August 15 - Independence Day of our country
On this day,
Indians all over the world celebrate the country's Independence Day on 15th August. We
all know a lot about the country's freedom movement. But what happened in the
country on this historic day after decades of struggle, the sacrifice of millions
of people? Very few people know where the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi
was and what was the reason behind getting independence in the middle of the
night. So let's take a look at the old flashback
Festive atmosphere… ..
There was a
festive atmosphere in the capital Delhi. On August 14, people took
to the streets in all the towns and cities of the country. Chanting patriotic
songs, ‘Jaihind’s Gagan Bhedi was shouting slogans. Millions of people gathered
at national venues like Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House.
Where was the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi?
Gandhibapu, who
fought against the British for the freedom of the country and led the entire
freedom struggle, did not participate in any celebrations all day. He was
inside a house in Beliaghat, West Bengal. Earlier in the day, he wrote a letter
to Agatha Harrison, a friend in Britain, thanking God for the country's
independence. He fasted all day and met the children.
The decision was made too early.
In fact, the
decision to liberate India was taken on February 26, 19. Announcing an
important decision, the British government said that India would be made
independent by June 15. For this Lord Mountbatten was made viceroy. They decided to free India
from the shackles of British slavery and hand over power to India.
