DigiLocker has partnered with various government authorities and agencies, like UIDAI, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Income Tax department and CBSE, among others.
This facilitates direct issue as well as storage of vital documents such as Aadhaar card, Driving license, Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC), PAN card, Board examination marksheets, and other documents.
Digilocker App Download: Targeted at the idea of paperless governance, DigiLocker is a platform for issuance and verification of documents & certificates in a digital way, thus eliminating the use of physical documents. Indian citizens who sign up for a DigiLocker account get a dedicated cloud storage space that is linked to their Aadhaar (UIDAI) number. Organizations that are registered with Digital Locker can push electronic copies of documents and certificates (e.g. driving license, Voter ID, School certificates) directly into citizens lockers. Citizens can also upload scanned copies of their legacy documents in their accounts. These legacy documents can be electronically signed using the eSign facility.

What is the sign-up and sign-in procedure for DigiLocker? Can I link my Google or Facebook to DigiLocker?
A) While signing up for a DigiLocker account, it is mandatory for a user to have an Aadhaar (UIDAI) number. A one-time password or OTP is sent to the users Aadhaar-linked mobile number, which they need to sign-up.
For log-ins thereafter, a user can set a password of their choice, or link the account to their Facebook or Google logins. The choice of linking DigiLocker with Google or Facebook is given to every user, and is left to their discretion. It is not necessary to link them.
How To Upload Document In Digilocker App:
- you can upload documents from inside your ‘Uploaded Documents’ section.
- Click the upload icon to start uploading a document. In the file upload dialog box, locate the file from your local drive and select 'open' to complete the uploading.
- To assign a document type to your uploaded file, click 'select doc type'. This will show a pop up with a drop down selection of various document types. Choose the appropriate document type and click 'save'.
- You can also edit the name of the file using the edit icon next to the filename.
Step 1- Document Upload Screen
All the given activities will be performed only in the document upload window.
After signing up, click on “Uploaded Documents”.
Click on the “Upload” mentioned on the screen as shown in the picture.
You can upload more than one documents at a time.
Step 2- Document Upload Screen
These steps will also be performed in the document upload screen.
Click on the “Upload” tab.
Here you have to choose the location and select the file (s) you want to upload.
Once you have selected the file(s), click on “Open” button.
Step 3- Select Document Type
This step is to set the type of document you have uploaded.
Click on “Select Document Type” for any of the document available in the uploaded documents list.

Here’s how you can carry all your car/bike-related documents using DigiLocker:
- Open https://digilocker.gov.in/ and sign up using your mobile number.
- Create a username and password. Entering Aadhaar number is optional.
- Use the OTP to verify your details.
- After successful login, you would find all the documents issued.
- Click on Issued documents to extract the copy of the driving license, registration papers and fitness certificate.
- Next, click on ‘Check Partners Section’ and search for 'Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, All states'.
- Now, in the 'Document Type' section choose between Driving Licence, Fitness Certificate, Vehicle Registrations or Vehicle Tax Receipt.
- Enter details like license number, name, vehicle registration number, chassis number etc., as per your requirements.
