1. The first three letters of a PAN card number are English letters, which can be anything from AAA to ZZZ. The Income Tax Department decides what the letter will be and what its number will be.

2. The fourth letter states the status of the PAN card holder. Such as A-AOP (Association of Persons), B-BOI (Body of Individual), C-Company, F-Firm, G-Government, H-HUF (Hindu Undivided Family), J-Artificial Judicial Person, L- Used for local, P-person or personal, T-trust.

3. The fifth character in the account number of the PAN card will be your surname or the first letter of the name of the organization, in other cases the name of the organization. As your name is Sahil, the fifth letter will be S.

4. There are numbers from the sixth digit to the ninth digit. These figures can be any number from 0001 to 9999. In fact, it is the number whose series is running in the income tax department when creating your PAN card.

5. The last letter is the alphabet check. The last letter of the PAN card number is a letter, which is an alphabet check digit. It is generated by applying a formula to the last nine letters and numbers.

Structure of PAN Card

Name of the cardholder – Individual/ Company

Name of the father of the cardholder – Applicable for individual cardholders.

Date of birth – the cardholder’s date of birth in case of an individual or date of registration is mentioned in case of company or firm.

PAN Number – It is a 10 letter alpha-numeric number and each character represents distinct information of the cardholder.

First three letters – are purely alphabetical in nature and contain three letter of the alphabet from A to Z.
