Describe school vocational education under holistic education. Introduction: This module has been developed to provide a comprehensive overview of the historical perspective of work-based education in India, skills development and the current state of the school vocational education program. 

The first session begins with the ancient education system and describes the views and opinions expressed by great thinkers, philosophers and freedom fighters on the importance of work-based education. It focuses on the importance of vocational education for personal employment and national productivity development. It has been emphasized by various commissions on education constituted by the Government of India. 

The second session describes India's key features in terms of skills development such as coordination among different stakeholders, involvement of vocational skills in general education, participation of public and private sectors in the implementation of skills development schemes and programs and higher vocational education.
