Why freedom in the middle of the night?
Indian astrologers objected when it was decided to grant independence to India on August 15, the third day. In his opinion, this day was very inauspicious for the country. Lord Mountbatten, on the other hand, was determined to this day. It was therefore decided to grant independence at midnight on 15th August as according to Indian belief the day begins with the rising of the sun, while the British change the date to midnight. The result is that both beliefs will be maintained.
Why 1st August? .
This date was very fortunate for Lord Mountbatten. During World War II, the Japanese army surrendered to him on the 19th.
Memorable discourse of Nehruji… ..
On the eve of independence, Jawaharlal Nehru delivered a memorable speech entitled 'Trust with Destiny'. He was not officially the Prime Minister of India at this time. He was sworn in on August 15.
Indians are celebrating Independence Day today. Thousands of freedom fighters led by Gandhiji took part in the movement to liberate British ruled India. Some people lost their lives, many were martyred and the country was liberated. Leaders who played an important role in giving independence to India and the slogans given to them which caused a stir in the whole country. We are putting it here for you.
‘Leave India’: Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi).
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, spinning khadi while wearing a potty, announced that the British would leave India immediately in the year 1918. His slogan 'Leave India' took the form of a movement and millions of people in the country joined it. Shortly after Gandhiji's challenge to the British, the British arrested all the Congress leaders and about 30,000 citizens.
The then President of the United States, Franklin Roosevelt, pressured Churchill to accept the call. But Britain did not agree to this. In his view, this was his crushing defeat in India. The fact that India had become capable was clearly conveyed to the British and eventually forced them to leave India. The Quit India Movement has an important place in the pages of global history.
‘Inquilab Zindabad’: Bhagat Singh
During the freedom movement, Bhagat Singh's 'Inquilab Zindabad' ignited a new wave in the youth. This slogan was written by the then Muslim leader Hasrat Mohani. Bhagat Singh and his ally Batukeshwaradatta hurled two bombs at the Central Legislative Embassy with the slogan 'Inquilab Zindabad'. He was arrested by the British for this. Until then though he had won the love of the countrymen. The youth of the country were ready to catch every ball of the adventurous youth leaders. Bhagat Singh and his associates were tried in London. He was hanged for murder at the age of eight.
‘Jai Hind’: Subhash Chandra Bose
Subhash Chandra Bose, nicknamed Netaji, gave the slogan of 'Jayhind' in 19. It was later declared as the national motto of the country by the Government of India. The slogans given by Netaji, a well-known freedom fighter of the country, 'Delhi Chalo' and 'Tum Mujhe Khundo Mein Tumhe Azadi Duga' were used by the people of the country to take part in the freedom movement.
